JOINT MEDIA RELEASE
AMBC & Roxby Media partner to deliver ‘Australia Malaysia: Forging Ahead' Initiative
Thursday October 20, 2011. The Australia Malaysia Business Council (AMBC) has announced it will partner with Roxby Media in delivering the ‘Australia Malaysia: Forging Ahead Initiative’ – a program aimed at promoting trade and investment opportunities between Australia and Malaysia. The multimedia initiative – developed in conjunction with the Malaysia Australia Business Council (MABC) – is intended to highlight the business opportunities emerging out of Malaysia’s economic transformation, and will be
supported by a print publication, promotional campaign, purpose built website and series of networking events. AMBC National President Larry Gould says that the initiative will work to “showcase the proactive and supportive business frameworks that exist in the Malaysian and Australian economies, and the vast opportunities for foreign
investment in Malaysia.”

Having worked on the development and implementation of similar bilateral initiatives, including those supporting Australia/China, Australia/Korea and Australia/Arab trade and investment relationships, Roxby Media is seen as the ideal partner in the implementation of the initiative. The launch event – scheduled to take place on the 17th of November at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre – will take the form of a full day business briefing, and will feature a series of keynote addresses from
government, industry and business leaders and industry specific sessions. The initiative will subsequently be launched in Kuala Lumpur on the 23rd of November by way of a cocktail reception, with the ‘AMBC Trade Mission’ attending both launches. At the core of the initiative will be a publication focusing on trade and investment between Australia and Malaysia. The publication will serve as a golden opportunity to present the Malaysian economy in a modern context and provide Australian public and private enterprises with an outlet to promote trade and services to Malaysian businesses.
This publication will be the key vehicle in reaching Government, business, industry and executives in Australia and Malaysia. The program has received strong endorsements from Malaysian trade and investment agencies MIDA and MATRADE and is decisive in light of recent reforms including the Economic Transformation Program, the 10th Malaysia Plan, and the expected conclusion of negotiations around the Malaysia-Australia Free Trade Agreement (MAFTA) in early 2012. As Australia’s third-largest trading partner in the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and eleventh-largest partner overall, Malaysia already enjoy a strong trade and investment relationship with Australia. With the event of the MAFTA however, Larry Gould believes the two nations can go one better. “With the impending signing of the MAFTA, both Australian and Malaysian businesses can look forward to increased opportunities for bilateral trade and investment in the future.”
The Full Business Day Briefing is scheduled to take place on Thursday 17th of November 2011 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. To enquire or register, please contact Sandra Johnasson at Roxby Media on 02 8246 7400.
