The keynote address at the launch of Australia and the Arab Nations: Partnership for the Future by Federal Minister for Small Business, Senator Nick Sherry, has made the CCH Political Alert.

Given the resilience to the GFC among many of the Arab nations, it was noted with interest that Senator Sherry took this opportunity to promote Australia’s longstanding relationship with the Arab world, the recent growth in trade with the Arab League and mutual interests. Senator Sherry also highlighted the Australian government’s support for the development of Islamic finance in order to attract Islamic investment in Australian assets and businesses, and to expand Australian banks’ offerings of Shariah-compliant products.
